Strip wax is applied thinly and removed with a cloth strip and works well for larger body areas such as legs. At Ami's Beauty and Aesthetics, hot wax is used for all intimate waxing treatments.

Hair should ideally be around 5mm long before your waxing appointment, which is roughly two to three weeks of growth after shaving. Hair that is too short may not be caught effectively by the wax, and hair that is too long may be trimmed before the treatment.

Waxing results typically last between three and six weeks depending on your individual hair growth cycle. With regular waxing over time, many clients find their hair grows back finer and more slowly.

There is some discomfort with waxing, particularly in more sensitive areas. Using hot wax rather than strip wax on intimate areas significantly reduces discomfort. Regular waxing also becomes more comfortable over time as the hair follicle weakens. Taking a painkiller an hour before your appointment can help if you are concerned.

You can still have a waxing appointment during your period. However, skin sensitivity is often higher at this time so you may find the treatment slightly more uncomfortable. Please wear or bring a fresh tampon or menstrual cup to your appointment.

We recommend avoiding exercise, swimming, sunbathing, saunas and hot baths for at least 24 hours after waxing. The skin is temporarily more sensitive and open pores can be more prone to irritation during this time.

Yes, many clients with sensitive skin are waxed regularly without any issues. Please let Ami know about any skin sensitivities, conditions or medications before your appointment. A brief skin assessment is carried out before facial waxing treatments.

Make sure your hair is at least 5mm long. Exfoliate the area gently a day before to help lift any ingrown hairs. Avoid applying heavy moisturiser or body oil on the day of your appointment as this can affect how the wax grips the hair. Arrive clean and dry.

Yes. Full leg and bikini waxing can be combined in the same appointment. Many clients book both together to save time. Please mention all areas you would like waxed when you send your enquiry so enough time is allocated.

Threading is one of the gentlest hair removal methods available and is widely considered suitable for sensitive skin. It does not involve any heat, chemicals or wax, making it a popular choice for clients who experience reactions to other methods.

Eyebrow threading typically takes around ten to fifteen minutes. It is a precise and efficient treatment that shapes the brow with excellent accuracy, removing even the finest hairs that waxing may miss.

Most clients have eyebrow threading every three to five weeks, depending on how quickly their hair grows. Facial threading for other areas such as the upper lip or chin may be needed more frequently for some clients.
